Park Prices Rise Slightly

Walt Disney World will raise its theme park ticket prices by more than $2 this month when it opens Animal Kingdom, its largest theme park.

The move will push the cost of a one-day pass to $44.52 including tax, or $2.38 more than the current price. For children ages 3 to 9, the cost jumps $2.12 to $36.04. Children younger than 3 get in free.

The 6 percent increase is Disney's steepest in years. The company has increased ticket prices by about $1 a year for the past several years.

"It's definitely more than last year, but historically speaking, there's nothing unusual about it," said spokesman Craig Dezern. "We're opening a new theme park and continue to add more attractions in our other theme parks."

In past years, ticket increases at Disney have resulted in similar raises at Universal Studios Florida and Sea World. Both currently charge the same for one-day passes as Disney -- $42.14 for adults and $33.92 for children.
