Fifth Annual Flower & Garden Festival Blooms

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Its theme parks are unsurpassed in all the world. But did you know Walt Disney World Resort hosts one of the spring's preeminent garden festivals?

Nowhere is gardening more lively than at the annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, scheduled for April 17-May 31, 1998.

To celebrate the spring 1998 opening Of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the newest theme park at Walt Disney World Resort, the fifth annual Flower & Garden Festival will pay tribute to mankind’s enduring love for animals with a show-stopping display at Epcot's main entrance.

Each spring during the festival an astonishing array of more than 30 million blooms -- including sunflowers, marigolds, geraniums, orchids and other floral beauties -- grace Epcot, a theme park where guests discover technological wizardry and cultural wonders daily at Future World and World Showcase. For garden enthusiasts, this Disney springtime tradition is not just a walk in the park.

Disney gardeners adjust their schedules to ensure that they are visible to guests during park hours. They’re happy to pause from pruning, planting and fertilizing to answer questions or even pose for the occasional photograph. Informational signs supply additional gardening tips.

Workshops and demonstrations cover everything from "Hanging Baskets Made Easy" to "Gardening for Food Around the World."

Other don't-miss festival favorites include:
